INSPIRATIONAL COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP FORUM
KATANNING LEISURE CENTRE
7-8 SEPTEMBER 2006

Community ‘doers’ will have the opportunity to network, hear inspirational keynote addresses, partake in workshops to suit their learning style, share stories and ideas, and hear about other community projects at the Annual Community Leadership Forum to be held in Katanning on the 7th-8th September.

The Forum has attracted three outstanding speakers.

  1. Tony Kelly from Oxfam speaking about “A Vision for Connected Communities – from grassroots to global”.
  2. Tim Muirhead from CSD Networks on the topic “Developing collaborative approaches and capacity within communities”.
  3. Sylvia Marina  - an international educator, profiler and conference speaker, talking about pushing through limiting factors, and grasping opportunities to leave a positive impact for future generations.

Four concurrent sessions over the two days provide plenty of alternatives to choose workshops that suit your particular needs.

The sessions are divided into three streams:

  • Inform stream – for some serious learning and information – eg what is situational leadership, how do we develop strong partnerships, understanding team dynamics
  • Impact stream – for practical application of new learning –eg practice public speaking, working with the media, team building skills, or  learn about futures thinking, or the way forward for community leadership in the regions
  • Inspire stream – hear some amazing stories from around our region and find out how they achieved success; or look inwards at achieving balance in your life.

You can mix and match which streams you attend – to get an insight into each stream and attend the sessions that will both motivate you and provide you with timely information.

Awards recognising outstanding community leadership will be presented at the Gala Dinner.  Hear the stories, share the excitement and be part of promoting your community successes.

Is your community group involved in bringing together a number of groups or agencies for a shared outcome?  You could win the Leadership through Partnerships Award.

Is your community group involved in a project that has a positive impact on people in your community?  You could win the Leadership in a Project Award.

Do you know an inspirational person in your community who is recognised for making a difference through supporting and encouraging others?  You could nominate this person for the Inspirational Community Leadership Award.  There are two categories – one for a person up to the age of 35, and the other an open age award.

Nomination forms can be obtained from the local Telecentre or by emailing Deborah Rice – deb@arid.com.au.  Applications must be received by July 28th – so start nominating now.
